Station Manager Tori Tellem expressed pride in the nominees, highlighting the dedication and spiritual impact each artist brings. “I’m so godly proud of all of our nominees this year! What an honor to be part of what God is doing through so many incredible indie artists,” said Tellem. In an exclusive interview with Hobe Australia, Prof. Ras Banamungu shared insights about his unique musical style and the significance of his nomination:
What inspired you to combine Gospel and Reggae in your songs, and how do you think this blend helps in delivering your message?
“As an artist from Africa who grew up deeply rooted in my cultural heritage, I inherited Reggae as a voice of truth, peace, and resistance against injustice. On the other hand, Gospel represents God’s love, comfort, and the promise of hope. Blending the two came naturally as a way to reach all kinds of listeners—those seeking a reminder that God is with them, and those in need of strength to keep pushing through life’s struggles. This fusion allows my message to touch people both spiritually and emotionally, with Gospel bringing the light of heaven and Reggae bringing the energy to face the realities of the world we live in.”
