Gunfire erupted during a children’s birthday party, leaving several families mourning the loss of their children

Over 100 people had gathered at a banquet hall to celebrate a two-year-old girl’s birthday when gunfire erupted, leaving 11 injured and four dead, including children aged 8 to 14 and a 21-year-old adult. The victims have been identified as Journey Rose Reotutar, Maya Lupian, Amari Peterson, and Susano Archuleta.

Multiple families have lost their children.

Burna Boy, moved by the heartbreaking story he first heard on The Breakfast Club, reached out through Wack 100, who connected him to Stockton’s vice mayor, Jason Lee. Lee delivered an impassioned plea during a prayer vigil, condemning the senseless act: “It's never been gangster to kill kids. Never. You went into a birthday party and shot people's children. Parents brought their children out, and they left with medical examiners. That is not human.”

Countless bullet casings scattered across the ground.

In a statement to TMZ, Burna Boy said covering the funerals is “the very least he can do, considering the lifetime of pain the parents face ahead.” This act of generosity comes amid recent scrutiny over Burna Boy’s handling of a concert incident where a sleeping attendee was removed from his stage. Critics were quick to comment on the situation, but many fans are now seeing a more humane side of the artist—someone who is willing to take responsibility and help those in need. While the alleged Stockton gunman remains at large, with a $25,000 reward for information leading to his arrest, Burna Boy’s intervention offers a glimmer of hope in an otherwise dark moment.

Is this a new step for his fame?

From the controversy of a disrupted concert to stepping up in one of the most heartbreaking moments for families in Stockton, Burna Boy’s actions are reminding fans worldwide that artists can wield influence and resources not just for entertainment, but for genuine human impact.
