, the assailants boarded a bus packed with passengers and began indiscriminately firing using an improvised “Carlo” submachine gun, also known as a Carl Gustav. The weapon, commonly produced in illegal West Bank workshops, has been used in multiple Palestinian attacks in recent years. Paramedics reported at least seven victims in serious condition, two in moderate condition, and three lightly wounded.

Airspace was briefly sealed off around the area as security forces and police sappers searched for additional threats, including possible explosives. Police confirmed that both attackers, Palestinians believed to have set out from villages in the Ramallah area, were shot and killed during the incident.

, a soldier and a young armed Haredi civilian opened fire on the gunmen, preventing further casualties. Police later stated: “A security officer and a civilian who were present at the scene fired at the terrorists, and they were neutralized.” Deputy Police Chief Avshalom Peled arrived at the scene alongside large reinforcements, with police bomb disposal units inspecting the area. A woman who was on the bus described the terrifying moments to

Channel 12:

“The bus was packed. The moment [the driver] opened the door… terrorists came. It was terrible. I was by the back door, I fell on everyone and escaped, I saved myself.” She said she hid under a nearby vehicle until the gunfire subsided. “There was gunfire there beyond anything imaginable. I can’t believe I’m standing here. Indescribable gunfire.”

reports that the attack immediately disrupted state proceedings. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was scheduled to testify in his ongoing criminal trial at the Jerusalem District Court on Sunday but canceled his appearance, citing urgent security consultations. His attorney Noa Milstein told the court that “several severe security incidents at several scenes with fatalities” required Netanyahu to remain engaged in decision-making. The Prime Minister’s Office later confirmed he was conducting a “situation assessment” with the heads of the security establishment. The court was informed an update could be provided by the afternoon on whether Netanyahu might testify later in the day, though his appearance remained unlikely. Security officials said the terrorists were West Bank Palestinians, likely from villages around Ramallah, though their exact identities had not yet been released. The shooting marks one of the deadliest attacks in Jerusalem in recent months, further heightening tensions as Israel faces mounting threats from multiple fronts.
