Mike Goldman, the instantly recognisable voice of Big Brother Australia, has escaped a terrifying house fire in Brisbane alongside his wife and their one-year-old son. The blaze broke out around 4 a.m. on Friday at the family’s two-storey home in Bulimba, an inner-east suburb of Brisbane. According to The Courier-Mail, Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) crews battled the fire for more than two hours, preventing it from spreading to neighbouring properties. Goldman revealed that their pet dog, Mr Big, was briefly trapped inside, prompting him to run back into the smoke-filled home to rescue it. The dog eventually emerged singed but unharmed. While the family escaped without injuries, the fire destroyed the nursery, family possessions, and irreplaceable memorabilia. Investigators believe the blaze may have started near the fuse box or solar panels in the garage, but the exact cause remains under investigation. Speaking after the incident, Goldman expressed gratitude for the quick response of emergency crews and the working smoke alarms that alerted them. “Luckily our son was in bed with us… if we didn’t have smoke alarms, it would be a very different story,” he said. The Bulimba community has since rallied around the family, with a fundraiser launched to help them recover and rebuild. Source: The Courier-Mail
