At least four people were killed and eight others injured after a gunman stormed a church in Grand Blanc, Michigan, on Sunday. The attacker drove his vehicle into the building, opened fire, and set it ablaze before being shot dead by police. Authorities said the attack happened during a Sunday service at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which was attended by hundreds of worshippers. The suspect, identified as 40-year-old Thomas Jacob Sanford from Burton, Michigan, was killed in the church parking lot after exchanging gunfire with officers. Police said he was neutralized just eight minutes after the attack began, at 10:33 a.m. local time. Grand Blanc Township Police Chief William Renye confirmed that two victims died from gunshot wounds and two more were later found dead. Several others remain unaccounted for as investigators continue to search the fire-damaged building. “This was an act of targeted violence,” Chief Renye said, though he added that the motive remains unclear. President Donald Trump said he had been briefed on the incident and confirmed that the FBI will lead the federal investigation. Writing on Truth Social, he called it “yet another targeted attack on Christians in the United States of America.”
