February 2026, it follows the recommendations of the Nanterre public prosecutor’s office. The allegations date back to February 2023, when a then 24 year old woman reported an incident at Hakimi’s residence in Boulogne Billancourt, a Paris suburb. According to the original reports, the woman met the Moroccan international on Instagram and traveled to his home via a taxi he had ordered. She alleged that Hakimi assaulted her while his wife and children were away on holiday. Despite the ongoing investigation, Hakimi’s professional standing has never been higher. Just three months ago, in November 2025, he was crowned the 2025 African Footballer of the Year after leading PSG to a historic Champions League title. Now, he faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted.

Hakimi’s lawyer, Fanny Colin, has announced plans to appeal the trial order. She maintains that the case is built on incomprehensible grounds, claiming the accuser has refused DNA testing and medical exams throughout the process. Rachel Flore Pardo, representing the accuser, stated her client is relieved by the judge's decision, calling it a victory for the integrity of the judicial system. Achraf Hakimi wrote on X (former Twitter); "Today, a rape accusation is enough to justify a trial, even though I deny it and everything proves it's false. This is as unjust to the innocent as it is to the genuine victims. I calmly await this trial, which will allow the truth to come out publicly." As of today, no official date for the trial has been set. While Hakimi continues to train and play for PSG including a crucial Champions League fixture against Monaco this week, the legal reality has shifted from a preliminary investigation to a formal criminal proceeding. The trial is expected to be one of the most high profile legal battles in sports history.
