Israel’s ongoing military actions in Gaza are part of a broader vision to displace Palestinians from the enclave, according to Adnan Hayajneh, professor of international relations and U.S. foreign policy at Qatar University. Speaking to Al Jazeera , Hayajneh claimed that the Israeli government is using current military and humanitarian strategies to advance a long-standing plan to remove the Palestinian population from Gaza. “The whole objective of Israel [is] to move the Palestinians, to push them away from Gaza,” Hayajneh said. , Hayajneh claimed that the Israeli government is using current military and humanitarian strategies to advance a long-standing plan to remove the Palestinian population from Gaza. “The whole objective of Israel [is] to move the Palestinians, to push them away from Gaza,” Hayajneh said. He argued that Israel’s establishment of so-called “humanitarian centres” and the continued movement of displaced civilians toward Rafah are key indicators of this agenda. These actions, he said, reflect Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s intent to establish permanent military control over Gaza, without any intention of withdrawing. “If you put all the pieces together, from talking about the humanitarian centres and pushing the people to Rafah, that means it’s an implementation of a vision of Netanyahu … and he wants to have military control over Gaza – he’s not interested in withdrawing,” Hayajneh explained.

‘Stay in A Big Prison or Leave’

Hayajneh further claimed that Israel is exploiting the delay in ceasefire negotiations to execute its strategy of displacement, forcing starving civilians into Rafah and effectively giving them a grim ultimatum. “The attempt to buy time is tied to the potential ceasefire and the proposal of moving forcibly starved Palestinians to Rafah ‘within a concentration camp’ and giving them the option of either staying ‘in a big prison’ or leaving,” he said. He warned that this is part of a wider vision that predates the creation of the so-called Gaza Humanitarian Foundation. “There were some suggestions before even the creation of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, a vision that we have to have a Gaza without people – and this vision is shared by Trump, by Witkoff, by Netanyahu, by the minister of defence in Israel,” he said. Hayajneh stressed that the international community’s silence in the face of this unfolding scenario is alarming. “There is no choice when you put people in a prison and ask them to leave. This is outrageous, this is unlawful, this is against international law, but unfortunately, nobody is daring to speak against that,” he concluded.

Israeli Airstrike in Gaza’s Zeitoun Kills Four, Including a Child

Separately, the humanitarian toll of Israel’s military campaign continues to rise. According to reports from Al Jazeera Arabic, an Israeli helicopter strike killed four Palestinians, including a child, in Gaza City’s Zeitoun neighbourhood. The victims were reportedly struck while standing outside their home. This latest attack adds to the mounting civilian casualties as the conflict in Gaza escalates.
