Jean Bosco Ruboneka, a key midfielder for APR FC, has expressed strong optimism about the club’s new signings ahead of the 2025/2026 football season. The reigning Rwanda Premier League champions have significantly bolstered their squad with a blend of local and international talent as they set their sights on domestic dominance and continental success.

APR FC has taken bold and strategic steps in the transfer market during the off-season, bringing in high-caliber players to strengthen its ranks. Among the notable international arrivals are Ugandan midfield maestro Ronald Ssekiganda, Ivorian striker William Togui, and Burkina Faso’s solid defender Memel Dao. The club has also reinforced its local lineup by securing the services of Hadji Iraguha, Hakim Bugingo, Adolphe Hakizimana, Pacifique Iradukunda, and Alex Nduwayo.

Ruboneka, who has been training alongside the newcomers during pre-season, commended their swift adaptation and impact in early sessions and friendly matches.

''These players have great potential and bring new energy to the squad,” Ruboneka said. “You can tell from the training sessions and friendly matches that they are here to compete and contribute. I believe they will help us in big ways during the upcoming season.”

APR FC, known for its discipline and ambition, is keen to build on its remarkable 2024/2025 campaign, where the team clinched both the Rwanda Premier League title and the Peace Cup. However, Ruboneka believes that some key lessons from last season must guide the club forward.

''Last season we achieved a lot, but there were games we should’ve handled better. This time, with a deeper squad, we’re aiming higher,” he added. “The level of competition in the league and on the continent is growing. These new additions give us more options and depth, which is essential in tight matches.”

A New Era Under Coach Taleb Abderrahim

APR FC’s preparations for the new season are being guided by newly appointed head coach Taleb Abderrahim, who brings a wealth of experience and a fresh tactical approach. Under his leadership, the team is undergoing an intensive pre-season training program, which includes a series of high-profile international friendlies aimed at fine-tuning squad chemistry and assessing match readiness.

As part of this preparation, APR FC will host Nigeria’s CHAN team on July 29 at the iconic Amahoro Stadium in Kigali. The club has also lined up challenging fixtures against Tanzanian powerhouses Simba SC and Azam FC. Talks are ongoing for a potential clash against South African giants Kaizer Chiefs, further indicating APR’s ambition to test themselves against elite opposition.

These matches are not just for match fitness but form a critical part of the club’s build-up to its CAF Champions League campaign, where APR FC hopes to make a lasting impression on the continental stage.

Building Momentum with a Balanced Squad

With a well-balanced squad blending experienced players and youthful talent, APR FC is positioning itself as a serious contender not only in the local league but across Africa. The integration of the new signings appears to be progressing smoothly, with coaching staff and senior players like Ruboneka playing a key role in building team unity

"We are motivated. The atmosphere in the camp is positive, and everyone is working hard to earn their place,” Ruboneka emphasized. “It’s not just about individual talent, but how we play as a team. With the right mindset and support, we can reach even greater heights this season.”

As fans eagerly await the season kick-off, all signs point to a thrilling campaign ahead for APR FC. With robust preparations, strategic reinforcements, and a clear vision under Coach Abderrahim, the club is gearing up to write a new chapter in its storied history.
