Rwanda Security Force (RSF) Commander, Maj. Gen. Emmy K. Ruvusha, received the Mozambique Armed Forces Chief of General Staff (CGS), Admiral Joaquim Mangrasse, who visited the Joint Task Force Headquarters in Mocimboa da Praia on Thursday, November 21, 2024.

"Their discussion focused on ongoing operations to dislodge terrorists from their hideouts in Cabo Delgado Province," RDF highlighted in X post.

On September 27, when they met in Pemba, the capital of Cabo Delgado, they focused on assessing ongoing efforts to restore peace and stability in the region, which has been plagued by terrorism.

In September, Admiral Mangrasse commended the achievements of the joint military operations ever since the deployment of Rwanda Security Forces in Cabo Delgado in July 2021.

Rwanda deployed troops to Cabo Delgado in July 2021 at the request of the Mozambican government to combat an Islamic State-linked insurgency.

Rwandan troops, working alongside Mozambican forces, have played a key role in stabilizing the terrorist-affected districts of Cabo Delgado.

Currently, security has been reestablished in many parts of Cabo Delgado Province. Schools are reopening, people are returning to their homes, and terrorist fighters are fleeing into the forests.

The Rwandan Security Forces continue to support the Mozambican government in reinstating state authority in Cabo Delgado Province through combat and security operations and participating in stabilization and security sector reform.
