The event took place at Kami Military Barracks, on 14th May 2024.

The RDF Army Chief of Staff conveyed a message from H.E. Paul Kagame, the President of Rwanda and Commander-in-Chief of RDF, reminding the troops to maintain discipline and commitment in their crucial mission.

He emphasized that the forces currently deployed in the region are performing admirably and that this standard must be upheld.

This deployment underscores the strong bilateral relations between the Republic of Rwanda and Mozambique.

In July 2021, Rwanda deployed 1,000 troops to Cabo Delgado, at the request of the Mozambican government.

Rwandan troops were initially deployed to the districts of Mocimboa da Praia, and Palma.

Currently, security has been restored in many parts of Cabo Delgado Province. Schools are re-opening, and people are returning to their shelters, while terrorist fighters are fleeing into the forests.

The RSF continues to support the Mozambique Government in restoring state authority in Cabo Delgado Province by conducting combat and security operations, stabilization, and security sector reform.
