Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Amb. Olivier Nduhungirehe, has arrived in Islamabad for an official visit to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Upon his arrival at the airport, he was received by the Director General for Africa in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Rwandan High Commissioner to Pakistan, and other senior officials from Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During his visit, Minister Nduhungirehe will hold talks with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, and will also meet with key Federal Ministers from the host country’s cabinet. Additionally, Minister Nduhungirehe will officially inaugurate the High Commission of Rwanda in Islamabad. He is also scheduled to engage with members of the local business community. “This visit will open new avenues of cooperation between the two friendly countries,” stated a press release from Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Rwanda and Pakistan, with a diplomatic relationship spanning 62 years, actively collaborate in various sectors, including trade, health, security, and investment. In January 2025, both nations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Bilateral Political Consultations, laying a solid foundation for deeper collaboration. This latest engagement marks a significant step toward strengthening their partnership and exploring further opportunities for cooperation in the future. On January 20, 2025, Rwanda’s Minister of Defence, Juvenal Marizamunda, alongside Maj. Gen. Vincent Nyakarundi, Chief of Staff of the Rwanda Defence Force, received Maj. Gen. Muneer-ud-Din, Director General of Foreign Military Cooperation at the Joint Staff Headquarters of the Pakistan Armed Forces, and his delegation at the Ministry of Defence Headquarters in Kimihurura during their official three-day visit to Rwanda. The visit was aimed to explore ways to enhance ongoing cooperation between the Rwanda Defence Force and the Pakistan Armed Forces.
