Australian telecommunication company, Telstra has revealed that up to 2800 jobs will be affected by the end of the year. This will be done to save the company $350 million, to help it stay competitive and make the investments needed to support growth in data volumes across its business. Last year's annual report in August 2023 showed there are 31,000 employees in the company, means 9% of its workforce will loss jobs. The majority of affected workers would be from Telstra’s enterprise unit, which services some of the nation’s biggest companies with connectivity. The affected workers would receive an “industry-leading redundancy package”, including career transition support for six months, Chief Executive of Telstra, Vicki Brady said. The details of remaining job cuts will be announced in mid-July and aims to complete most of the redundancies in 2024.
