On Saturday, June 22, political parties and independent candidates started campaigning across the country ahead of the presidential and parliamentary elections in July 2024.

The FPR- INKOTANYI began its campaign in Busogo, Musanze District in the Northern province.

In Musanze, President Paul Kagame was welcomed by over 350,000 RPF supporters gathered at Busogo Stadium.

The residents who attended were from Musanze, Burera, Gicumbi, Nyabihu, and Rulindo districts.

During his remarks to the crowd, President Kagame, also a presidential candidate for FPR-Inkotanyi, said that Rwandans have the right to choose their leaders in a democracy.

"Democracy means choosing what is right for you, what you want, and having freedom in that choice. In democracy, no one chooses for you, you choose yourself. This is how it should be understood here and there," President Kagame told the participants of the RPF Campaign.

President Kagame asked Rwandans to support him again on July 15 when the general elections will be held.

While campaigning in Ngoma District on Saturday, independent presidential candidate Philippe Mpayimana urged residents to support his manifesto, which focuses on education, the environment, and e-waste management.

Mpayimana promised to advocate for bursaries, ensure children's access to books, curb food mismanagement, and promote e-waste initiatives.

He also highlighted the importance of adding value to Rwanda's mineral sector to boost development.

The Democratic Green Party began its campaign in Jabana Sector, Gasabo District.

Presidential candidate Dr. Frank Habineza addressed supporters on the party’s manifesto ahead of the July general election.

Other political parties and independent candidates started campaigning ahead of the Parliament election.

According to electoral laws, the campaign period began on June 22nd and will close on July 13th.

The election for the Rwandan diaspora will take place on July 14th, while it will occur on July 15th, 2024, for Rwandans living in the country.
