The delegation included Jim Kim, Chancellor of the University; Professor Phil Cotton, UGHE Vice-Chancellor; and Dr. Joe Rhatigan, Chair of the UGHE Board. According to a post on X by the Office of the President, they discussed ongoing partnerships between the Government of Rwanda and UGHE. "focused on making Rwanda a hub for health education, research, and systems innovation," the post read. Founded in 2015 as a not-for-profit institution, UGHE is dedicated to transforming healthcare delivery worldwide. The university has forged partnerships with esteemed organizations such as the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Harvard Medical School, and the Cummings Foundation. UGHE offers three main educational pathways, including a unique and innovative dual-degree program in medicine (MBBS/MGHD), a Master of Science in Global Health Delivery (MGHD) with tracks in health management, and gender, sexual, and reproductive health. In addition, UGHE provides a range of executive education courses aimed at equipping healthcare professionals with the skills needed to implement value-based healthcare programs. In August of last year, UGHE celebrated the graduation of its ninth cohort in the MGHD program. The Class of 2024 comprises 54 students from 16 countries, including Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, Jamaica, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Nepal, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Sudan, Uganda, the United States, and Zambia.
