On Saturday, June 22, thousands of residents, mainly members of RPF-Inkotanyi, gathered at the University of Rwanda's campus in Busogo, Musanze District, to receive and hear from President Paul Kagame, who is the presidential candidate of RPF-Inkotanyi and allied parties.

The residents who attended are from Musanze, Burera, Gicumbi, Nyabihu, and Rulindo districts.

During his remarks to the crowd, President Kagame said that Rwandans have the right to choose their leaders in a democracy.

“Democracy means choosing what is right for you, what you want; and having freedom in that choice. Democracy is not about people choosing on your behalf, no one should decide for you. You have to make your own choices.

That is how it should be understood everywhere including where it supposedly originates from. For those who claim to be the creators of democracy, no one chooses for them. That is why they have no right to decide for others. Our choices are a result of our unique context, the uniqueness of our challenges, of our country.” Chairman Kagame | RPF Presidential Campaign - Musanze District

President Kagame has asked Rwandans to support him again on July 15, when the general elections will be held.

He said, "Being here, I am asking you to vote properly on July 15, 2024. In that voting and being elected, I do not have much work in it. That's why coming here was to thank you. Why you include me? So would you include me and leave me in it? Even if you choose to leave me in it, you have a different way of doing things, I have no argument. All the work you have given me in the past years, I have tried my best to do, and you help me. What has not gone well when you are involved in it as well as what has gone well."

President Kagame, the candidate of RPF-Inkotanyi, finished his speech by thanking other parties for trying and cooperating with others to build the country.

According to electoral laws, the campaign period began on June 22nd and will close on July 13th.

The approved presidential candidates are Paul Kagame of RPF-Inkotanyi, Frank Habineza of the Democratic Green Party of Rwanda, and Philippe Mpayimana, an independent.

The election for the Rwandan diaspora will take place on July 14th, while it will occur on July 15th, 2024, for Rwandans living in the country.

About nine million Rwandans are expected to vote.
