The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on Wednesday received the European Union Ambassador to Rwanda, H.E. Belen Calvo, for a farewell courtesy call as she prepares to conclude her diplomatic mission in the country.

The meeting provided an opportunity to reflect on the longstanding partnership between Rwanda and the European Union, which has continued to grow across several strategic sectors.

During the discussions, the Minister expressed appreciation for Ambassador Belen Calvo’s contribution to strengthening relations between Rwanda and the European Union throughout her tenure. He particularly commended her efforts in advancing cooperation in trade, investment, and regional economic integration.

Rwanda and the European Union maintain a broad partnership that spans economic development, governance, education, climate action, infrastructure, and regional cooperation. Both sides have consistently worked together to promote sustainable development and expand economic opportunities.

The farewell meeting also underscored the shared commitment of Rwanda and the European Union to further deepen their collaboration and build on the progress achieved during Ambassador Belen Calvo’s tour of duty.

As Ambassador Calvo concludes her assignment in Kigali, both parties reaffirmed the importance of maintaining the strong relationship between Rwanda and the European Union and continuing to explore new areas of cooperation for mutual benefit.
