Emergency responders rushed the agent to a nearby medical facility, where he was treated for a non‑life-threatening wound and remained in stable condition later Friday.
Dr. Biden was at the airport but was not present at the scene when the weapon discharged. No other travelers, staff, or members of the security team were injured. Airport operations were largely unaffected by the incident.

The Secret Service said the incident is under review by its Office of Professional Responsibility to determine how the accidental discharge occurred and whether any safety protocols were breached.
Agents assigned to protect current and former presidents and first ladies undergo extensive training and follow strict weapons safety procedures. Accidental discharges within such elite security teams are rare and typically prompt detailed internal review.
The Secret Service praised the coordinated response of airport police, medical personnel, and federal law enforcement, which ensured the agent received prompt treatment without wider disruption.
