The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has warned Iran that the United States could carry out further and more powerful military attacks if Tehran attempts to resume its nuclear weapons program. Trump made the remarks on Monday after holding talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida on December 29. He reiterated his earlier claim that U.S. airstrikes conducted in June 2025 had completely destroyed Iran’s nuclear weapons infrastructure. However, speaking alongside Netanyahu, Trump suggested that Iran may still be pursuing the program by moving its activities to undisclosed locations and continuing development in secret. Israeli officials have also expressed concern that Iran is resuming the production of long-range ballistic missiles capable of reaching Israel. “I’m hearing that Iran is trying to build up again, and if they are, we’re going to have to stop them,” Trump told reporters. “We’ll stop them completely. But hopefully, that’s not happening.” Trump said that if Iran is confirmed to be rebuilding its nuclear program, the United States would have no choice but to act swiftly and decisively. He warned that the response would be “more powerful than the last time.” “We know exactly where they’re going and what they’re doing,” Trump added. “I hope they’re not doing it, because we don’t want to use a B-2 bomber again.” He noted that such missions require long flights and significant resources. Iran has consistently denied pursuing nuclear weapons, insisting that its nuclear activities are transparent and intended solely for peaceful energy purposes. Iranian officials say they aim to reassure Western nations about the civilian nature of the program. In June, the United States announced it had carried out strikes against Iran to prevent what it described as an attempt to develop nuclear weapons. Trump said the attacks targeted three nuclear sites, Natanz, Esfahan, and Fordow and stressed that the mission was successful. During the same discussions, Trump also addressed the situation in Gaza, saying that following the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, efforts should move toward a second phase aimed at achieving peace. He warned that Hamas must disarm as agreed under the ceasefire terms, adding that failure to do so would carry serious consequences. Although the ceasefire, which Trump supported, has been implemented, efforts to secure lasting peace remain difficult. Israel and Hamas continue to accuse each other of violating the agreement, while differences persist among the United States, Israel, and Arab nations over how to bring the conflict to a permanent end.
