The ICCA Congress is a key annual gathering where global industry stakeholders meet to connect, exchange insights, identify opportunities and shape the future of meetings worldwide, with a strong focus on sustainability and inclusivity. RCB noted that the successful bid reflects years of strategic investment in the MICE sector and close cooperation with regional and international partners. ICCA congress was founded in 1963, it is a global organization that represents destinations and suppliers specializing in international association meetings. Its annual congress is one of the most influential platforms in the global events industry. Historically, the ICCA congress has been hosted across Europe, the Americas and Asia-Pacific, with Africa last hosting the event more than 20 years ago. Rwanda’s selection therefore represents a significant milestone for both the country and the African continent, highlighting Africa’s rising role in global business tourism. The 2027 congress is expected to not only boost Rwanda’s visibility on the global stage but also create long term opportunities for knowledge exchange, partnerships and investment in the region’s meetings and events industry.
