Kigali – 24th Feb 2026, President Paul Kagame this Tuesday afternoon received Saudi Arabia’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Waleed bin Abdulkarim El-Khereiji, at Urugwiro Village, where both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation and advancing shared regional priorities. The high level meeting focused on expanding the already cordial relations between Rwanda and Saudi Arabia, with discussions centred on trade, investment, energy, diplomacy, and regional stability.

According to the Presidency of Rwanda, the talks emphasized enhancing collaboration in key sectors of mutual interest. Rwanda  known for its growing reputation as a stable investment destination in Africa, is keen to attract more Saudi investment in infrastructure, renewable energy, hospitality, and agribusiness. The country’s strategic location in East Africa and its business friendly reforms make it an appealing partner for Gulf nations seeking to expand their footprint on the continent. Saudi Arabia, on the other hand, continues to diversify its global partnerships under its long term economic transformation agenda. Strengthening ties with Rwanda aligns with the Kingdom’s broader engagement with African nations, particularly in food security, energy cooperation, and investment opportunities. The meeting between President Kagame and Vice Minister El-Khereiji reflects a shared ambition to elevate Rwanda–Saudi Arabia relations to new levels of strategic cooperation. As both nations pursue economic transformation and regional stability, strengthened bilateral ties could translate into greater investment flows, enhanced diplomatic collaboration, and long term mutual benefits. source: Presidency | Rwanda
