Rwanda and Pakistan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Bilateral Political Consultations, laying the foundation for closer collaboration between the two nations. This landmark moment for Rwanda-Pakistan relations occurred when the Permanent Secretary in Rwanda's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mrs. Clementine Mukeka, hosted Ambassador Hamid Asghar Khan, Additional Foreign Secretary, for the inaugural political consultations. "The signing of an MoU on Bilateral Political Consultations lays the foundation for even closer collaboration between the two nations," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs posted on X. Rwanda and Pakistan, with a longstanding relationship spanning 62 years, actively collaborate in various fields, including trade, health, security and investment. This recent engagement marks a significant step in strengthening their partnership and exploring the vast potential for collaboration in the years to come. On January 20, 2025, Minister Juvenal Marizamunda, Minister of Defence, along with Maj Gen Vincent Nyakarundi, the Rwanda Defence Force Army Chief of Staff, welcomed Maj Gen Muneer-ud-Din, Director General of Foreign Military Cooperation at the Joint Staff Headquarters of the Pakistan Armed Forces (PAF), and his delegation at the Ministry of Defence Headquarters in Kimihurura during their official three-day visit to Rwanda. The purpose of the visit and the planned deliberations is to explore ways of enhancing existing cooperation between the Rwanda Defence Force and the Pakistan Armed Forces.
