Rwanda, on Wednesday, October 8, welcomed 382 individuals who voluntarily repatriated from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The returnees were received at La Corniche border by the Mayor of RubavuDistrict, who welcomed them home and highlighted the development opportunities awaiting their contribution to nation-building. They will be temporarily accommodated at the Nyarushishi Transit Centre for registration and repatriation procedures, with all arrangements in place to ensure a safe and dignified return. The Government has established comprehensive reintegration programs to support the sustainable settlement of returnees, including access to education for children, healthcare coverage and other services that foster social cohesion with other communities. Working together, the Government of Rwanda and UNHCR support returnees’ reintegration, helping them rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.
