Liverpool manager Arne Slot expressed his admiration for Mohamed Salah's all-around contribution during the Reds’ 2-1 victory over Chelsea in the Premier League. This result pushed Liverpool back to the top of the table, edging out Manchester City by a point. Salah opened the scoring in the 29th minute with a well-taken penalty, awarded after Levi Colwill fouled Curtis Jones. Despite Chelsea’s brief equalizer early in the second half through Nicolas Jackson—after a VAR intervention—Salah was instrumental again, assisting Jones for the decisive goal in the 51st minute. After the match, Slot reflected on Salah’s versatility and effort with both humor and praise. “I said to Trent [Alexander-Arnold]: you have some competition now, because I saw that Mo Salah can play as a right full-back as well!” Slot quipped. He went on to emphasize Salah's value beyond scoring contributions, adding, “The defensive effort he put in today to help the team in that part is what pleased me just as much as his goal and assist”. This victory marked another milestone in Slot’s remarkable start at Liverpool, with the Dutch manager now having won 10 out of his first 11 matches. His ability to inspire offensive and defensive contributions from key players like Salah highlights his tactical insight and strong leadership. Liverpool’s win restored their one-point lead over Manchester City and extended a four-point cushion over Arsenal, whom they will face in their next league match. With Slot at the helm and Salah excelling at both ends of the pitch, Liverpool looks well-positioned to mount a serious title challenge this season.
