CAF has confirmed a more structured calendar for its major competitions in the 2026–27 season, with Ghana, Egypt, Senegal, Morocco and South Africa set to host several key tournaments. The move is part of CAF’s broader effort to create a more stable and predictable competition calendar for national associations, players, broadcasters, sponsors and supporters across Africa. South Africa will host the TotalEnergies CAF Super Cup in Tshwane on 8 November 2026. The match will bring together the winners of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League, Mamelodi Sundowns, and the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup holders, USM Alger. Morocco will host the TotalEnergies CAF Futsal Africa Cup of Nations 2026 from 12 to 21 October, while Senegal will stage the CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations 2026 in November. CAF’s youth competitions will also be spread across several countries. Ghana is scheduled to host the TotalEnergies CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations 2027 in February and March, while Morocco will host the CAF Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations 2027 in April and May. Egypt will stage the CAF Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations 2027, which will also serve as the qualifying tournament for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. CAF is also considering the introduction of a new U-17 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, with the governing body studying whether the competition can be launched next year. The proposed tournament would create another pathway for the development of young women’s football in Africa. Meanwhile, East Africa is preparing for one of the continent’s biggest football events. Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda will jointly host the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations 2027, scheduled to take place from 19 June to 17 July 2027. Qualification for the tournament is expected to begin in September 2026. At club level, the 2026/27 CAF interclub season is also taking shape. The preliminary-round draws for the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup have been completed, with first-leg matches scheduled for 4–6 September 2026 and return legs from 11–13 September. CAF has also continued discussions around a proposed African Nations League, a project aimed at creating more meaningful international fixtures while increasing commercial opportunities for national associations. The development of a clearer competition calendar is expected to help African football stakeholders plan ahead, while giving clubs, national teams and players greater certainty over their competitive schedules. With major tournaments now allocated to host countries across different regions, CAF is seeking to strengthen the organisation and global profile of African football while creating more opportunities at senior, youth, women's and specialised levels of the game.
