The Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) successfully conducted its 2025 Governance and Compliance Workshop on 27 June 2025 at Four Points by Sheraton Kigali. The workshop brought together representatives from member clubs and key stakeholders to enhance regulatory awareness, promote good governance, and support the professional development of football administration in Rwanda. Central to the workshop was the alignment of member clubs with FERWAFA’s revised Statutes, which have been updated to comply with Rwanda’s Law n°058/2024 of 20 June 2024 governing non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Regulated by the Rwanda Governance Board (RGB), this legal framework establishes clear standards for transparency, accountability, and sound management practices. FERWAFA provided comprehensive guidance to clubs on meeting these legal requirements and encouraged the adoption of robust governance and financial reporting systems. The workshop also emphasized the importance of club governance standards in accordance with CAF and FERWAFA Club Licensing Regulations. These standards encompass leadership structures, compliance monitoring, and professional management practices essential for ensuring club eligibility in both domestic and international competitions. By adhering to these guidelines, clubs will enhance operational integrity and competitiveness. In addition, FERWAFA introduced updated Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players. These reforms include enhancements to Training Compensation mechanisms, integration with the FIFA Legal Portal for streamlined dispute resolution, and implementation of the FIFA Clearing House to ensure financial transparency in player transfers. These measures aim to safeguard the interests of clubs and players while aligning Rwanda’s football administration with global best practices. FERWAFA reaffirmed its commitment to fostering good governance, legal compliance, and sustainable football development in Rwanda. The federation described these reforms as the foundation for a new era marked by professionalism, transparency, and alignment with national and international standards. FERWAFA pledged continued support to member clubs through capacity building, monitoring, and technical assistance to ensure effective implementation of the reforms.

FERWAFA President Munyantwali Alphonse pledges commitment to governance, compliance, and sustainable football growth in Rwanda.
