Rwandan basketball star Girumugisha Jean Claude has bid farewell to Al Hilal SC after three years with the club, bringing an end to an impressive chapter of his career. Girumugisha leaves the club after a remarkable 2025/26 season in which he played a key role in helping Al Hilal win the BK Pro League title. His individual performances were equally impressive, earning him the BK Pro League Player of the Year award. During the league campaign, Girumugisha recorded nine goals and 14 assists, underlining his importance to the team throughout the season. In his farewell message, Girumugisha described his three years at Al Hilal as an important part of his professional journey. He thanked the club’s president, his teammates, coaches, staff and, most importantly, the supporters who stood by him throughout his time at the club. «“Every journey has its chapter, and today a chapter of my journey comes to an end after three beautiful years in this great family. I want to thank the President, my teammates, coaches, all the staff and especially the fans,” Girumugisha said.» The Rwandan star said he leaves Al Hilal with great memories, lasting friendships, achievements and deep respect for everyone who contributed to his journey at the club. Although he is moving on to a new chapter in his career, Girumugisha made it clear that Al Hilal will always hold a special place in his heart. “I wish this great family continued success. Al Hilal SC will always be in my heart. Once you are part of the family, you remain part of the family.” Girumugisha’s outstanding season was further rewarded with a KIA Sorento valued at RWF 15 million, presented to him after he was named the league’s Player of the Year. Having now closed his three-year chapter at Al Hilal, Girumugisha has already started a new journey. He has been officially unveiled by Al Ahly Tripoli of Libya, where he will continue his career and look to build on a highly successful spell in his previous club. His departure marks the end of an important era at Al Hilal, but also the beginning of another opportunity for Girumugisha to establish himself on a bigger stage.
