NBA Africa has announced the five winning startups from the second edition of its Triple-Double Accelerator program, an initiative launched to empower Africa’s fast-growing tech ecosystem and support the continent’s next generation of innovators. The five selected companies Reborn (Morocco), Fitclan (Egypt), Athlon Technology (Egypt), Atsur (Nigeria), and Songdis (Nigeria) — were chosen from more than 700 applicants representing 32 African nations. Their recognition comes with financial support and admission into Carnegie Mellon University Africa’s (CMU-Africa) 12-month Business Incubation Program, valued at up to $70,000. This year’s Demo Day, held at CMU-Africa in Kigali, brought together the 10 finalists, who pitched to a high-level judging panel featuring CMU-Africa Director Dr. Conrad Tucker, OpenAI Africa Lead Emmanuel Lubanzadio, and ServiceNow executives Cheick Camara and Nikki van Gasse. OpenAI joined this edition as an official partner, with the top three startups receiving $10,000 in API credits and an immersion day at OpenAI’s global headquarters. 1st Place – Reborn (Morocco) Awarded $25,000, Reborn delivers advanced performance indicators designed to give athletes detailed insights into their physical capabilities, strengths, and areas for improvement. Beyond the cash prize, the company earned entry into CMU-Africa’s Incubation Program, $10,000 in API credits, and an exclusive OpenAI immersion day. 2nd Place – Fitclan (Egypt) Fitclan, a digital fitness hub built on a flexible subscription model for both individuals and businesses, received $15,000, incubator access, API credits, and an OpenAI immersion day. 3rd Place – Athlon Technology (Egypt) Athlon Technology provides AI-powered video analysis for amateur and budget-conscious sports teams, offering a mobile-first and hardware-light solution that fills a significant market gap. The company earned $5,000 plus the same range of technical benefits as the top two winners. 4th Place – Atsur (Nigeria) Atsur leverages blockchain technology to boost investment in African art and empower local artists and communities. The startup received $2,500 and a place in CMU-Africa’s Business Incubation Program. 5th Place – Songdis (Nigeria) Focused on providing comprehensive digital distribution services for African independent artists and labels, Songdis also received $2,500 and incubator access. NBA Africa CEO Clare Akamanzi praised the finalists for their creativity and ambition. “We continue to be amazed by the creative, talented and passionate entrepreneurs who participate in NBA Africa Triple-Double Accelerator,” she said. “Their bold and innovative solutions are shaping the future of sport and entertainment in Africa. The support they receive from this program will help them scale their products and make a lasting impact on the continent and globally.” NBA Africa oversees the NBA’s business operations across the continent, including the Basketball Africa League (BAL).
