Starting tomorrow, Tuesday, December 10, Rwanda will host the 2024 Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) Annual General Assemblies and Prize-Giving Ceremony. This will be the first time the event, which recognizes the achievements of all FIA Champions over the past season, is held in Africa. The FIA’s 120th-anniversary celebrations will culminate on December 13 with a glittering ceremony honoring 2024’s champions at the newly renamed FIA Awards. Taking place in Kigali the central theme, '120 Years of Legends', will bring together today’s brightest stars and many of the sport’s most renowned personalities to celebrate achievements past and present. The 2024 FIA Awards are being hosted in collaboration with the Rwanda Automobile Club and supported by Rolex, Visit Rwanda, RwandAir, AlphaTauri, and Hankook. One of the prominent figures in motorsport, Max Verstappen, will attend the FIA Awards Ceremony to collect his fourth consecutive FIA Formula One World Championship trophy. While in Kigali, he will also engage with junior competitors as part of a grassroots development program organized by Motorsport Rwanda. This initiative will include the use of an FIA Affordable Cross Car, which was built locally in Rwanda by the Rwanda Automobile Club (RAC) using blueprints provided by the FIA.
